I'm so sorry. But probably not as sorry as I should be.

This is a commission from a friend of mine who's a Lutheran pastor. So you can blame him too. And Reformation Day (Oct 31st) is coming up soon.

This is not intended to offend anyone. I'm a Protestant myself (Mennonite) and I have a great deal of respect for the Reformers. If anything, I think this is simply what happens when one has a love of both church history and ponies.

Luther and Calvin were the most cerebral of this quartet, so I made them unicorns. Luther's red thanks to his passion and temper. Calvin had a calmer personality (and an epic beard) which felt suited to sea-green. Pope Leo X wasn't stupid, but he wasn't terribly interested in theology either, and he liked fancy living, so I opted for a pastel pegasus. (Nothing against pegasi, honest!). Philipp Melancthon was doggedly nice, and not very healthy, so he gets to be a yellow earth pony.

Lol poor Calvin Pony and his depressing Predestination. He should go hang out with Luther Pony, he seems a lot more... happy.

As an Anglican and reformed thanks for the chuckle

Given Reformation Sunday is decorated in red for Lutherans, Martin Luther's red coat is very appropriate for that alone.

John Calvin's beard looks very manly.

Well done!

Thank you! I'm delighted that someone else "gets" this. (Well, aside from my RL friends - Christian geeks all.)

Ah, I see. Can't be the worst example, though.

No no I dont mean your pic is bad, I just dont like the fact that bronies have to include ponies in everything. Nothing seems.. "holy" if you will.

Well, if it's any consolation, there will come a time a few years from now when the "fever" will pass and bronydom will subside to a quiet subculture, and Pony Rule 34 will fade into obscurity. I thought the days where I couldn't go anywhere on line without seeing people do ludicrous things with LotR would never end, but they did. Yes, I jumped on a bandwagon. Partly because I know that this bandwagon, too, will someday pass. (I'm old even for a Brony, can you tell? ;-))

Also, I find that ponifying people spurs me to do research and learn about things. I didn't know all that much about the reformers that weren't Luther or Calvin (or Menno Simons). Now, having ponified them, I won't forget who's who. Strange, but true!
